Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and foreign minister, presided over the fifth meeting of China-Central Asia foreign ministers in Chengdu on 1 July. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Nurtreu, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Kulubayev, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Mukhriddin, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Meredov, and Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Saidov attended the meeting.
Wang Yi said that in May last year, the first China-Central Asia Summit was successfully held in Xi'an, opening a new era in the development of China-Central Asia relations. China is ready to work with Central Asian countries to promote the comprehensive and sustained development of China-Central Asia cooperation.
The second is to give priority to development. Focusing on the six priority areas of cooperation, including unimpeded trade, industrial investment, connectivity, green minerals, agriculture, and facilitation of people-to-people exchanges, we will enhance the overall level of cooperation between China and Central Asia, and implement the Global Development Initiative with concrete actions.
Fourth, adhere to the friendship of all generations. We will work together to implement the Global Civilization Initiative, uphold the concept of civilization based on equality, mutual learning, dialogue and inclusiveness, and continue to inherit the concept of good-neighborliness, friendship and peace for all generations.
